New Chapters.

Hi, to whoever you may be. This post was such a difficult one to write up as my brain is full to the brim with questions and doubts when it comes to my space on the internet. Truth is, I've found myself having a bit of a blogging identity crisis and I finally feel like I'm ready to chat about it. So here goes, grab some snacks and a cuppa.

The blog sand.

I may or may not have nabbed this from Love Island but 'Help... I've fallen into the blog sand'. Some of you are probably currently thinking 'Jen mate, what are you talking about?' so allow me to explain. The 'blog sand' is the current Blogosphere we're all a part of and it's easy to lose yourself amongst the masses of bloggers. With so many of us trying to leave a mark on the scene, you can't help but grow to recognise and relate to a certain style of content and before you know it, you're stuck.

Now, don't take this the wrong way as this definitely isn't a bad thing at all. I've gained a lot of exciting brand relationships due to the content I've been known to produce. As nine times out of ten, brands are hunting for that 'blogger aesthetic' that we all know and love. I guess a lot of my readers have stuck by me because of this type of content too.

But truth be told, to quote our babe Britney Spears... I'm not that kind of girl.

I've fallen out of blogging to fit in. I don't want to scroll down my Bloglovin' feed and lose my content in the sea of blogposts that are styled exactly like mine. As much as I love reading these blogs and enjoying their content, for me, I feel like I haven't been true to myself. I take a look at my recent posts and I can't see any of my personality or personal tastes coming through and it makes me feel like I just want to quit entirely.

So, even though my Twitter poll preferred my other style of photography, I'm giving this whole new blogging style a go for my own state of mind. I don't know whether this change is going to bite me on the bum in the long run, or whether I'll still prefer to do this a couple of months down the line. But currently, it feels like the right thing to do.

I'm glad I've found the right words to get that out of the way and push all the doom and gloom aside. So I guess now we can talk about this outfit?

I've been lusting after a cardigan like this since the infamous Lovers and Drifters came on the scene and sold out almost immediately last summer. Leaving a loop cardigan shaped hole in my heart and wardrobe. So you can imagine how giddy I was to randomly stumble upon this baby on And Other Stories, what a dream.

It's a little on the expensive side than what I'd typically spend. But it's a total investment piece (I keep telling myself). I can style this up like I have here with a pair of light jeans and boots for colder weather, or a cami dress and vans for summer.

You can shop the look here

I hope you'll join me on this new blogging journey, promise it'll be a good one!

  5. Loved this post babe! I feel like I went through the same thing a couple of months back. I've finally found my style and when you know - you know! Weirdly enough, it's true what they say, once you start to really enjoy it, the numbers just come. I've grown so much faster on instagram for example than I ever did with the white, marble theme that I used to sport. You'll fly babe xx

  6. I loved reading this post and I have so much respect for you to come out and be honest about how you're feeling! I genuinely think you should do what makes you happy and if your followers are loyal readers already, I'm sure they'll adapt and learn to love your new blogging style. The worst thing to do is blog for the sake of what others may think and I'm so glad you're finally blogging for yourself! It's so easy to blend into the background when everyone is doing the same thing, so definitely keep being you and do what you love!

  12. I think you conveyed it really well, and the 'blog sand' makes sense. I feel like sometimes mines doesn't fit into the aesthetic, but I've really enjoyed just writing about things I love too, and I can't wait to see what you come up with next xx

  13. Just stumbled upon your blog and really enjoyed reading this. As someone who has just gotten started, I am still trying to fully figure myself out, so for now I allow myself to try different things that I like. It's indeed so easy to get suck by the blogging sand, so it's important to remember why you started doing this. Love the outfit as well, so urban and cozy!
