Beauty with Barry M

Barry M Beauty

Ah Barry M, the nostalgia. 15 year old me would love absolutely nothing more than saving a few pounds of her dinner money and going to Boots on the weekend and buying a new polish. I wish I was still that easily pleased, life could throw anything at me and I wouldn't bat an eyelid because I was so happy with my 50 odd different polishes lined up on my windowsill. Anyone remember those crackle polishes? they were the ultimate fashion statement back in the day.

I took these photos quite a few weeks in advance because I wanted to make sure I gave these a good old test run before I wrote this post. I have to say, I'm really impressed! I haven't tried any beauty products from Barry M before, so I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about them, as I tend to stray away from high street brands (not a snob, just have sensitive AF skin). These are almost always on three for two offer at Boots too, so it's not like they broke the bank either.
Barry M Lipstick In Runway

I honestly have sooo much love for these lip products and I'm definitely going to pick up a few more shades when I'm back in Boots. I had no idea the lip liner came in a kit with the lipstick because I was so busy obsessing over my hand swatches. Naturally, I was over the moon when I got home and opened it because I'm rarely a girl who bothers buying liners. But anyway, lets get onto the actual results shall we?

The lip product itself is pretty thin and dries in a few seconds, which is great because I hate the feeling of thick, cakey lips some cheaper liquid lipsticks can give. I assumed since the product is so thin, the longevity wouldn't be that great, but the colour payoff in both the lipliner and the lipstick is pretty good. Obviously for £6.99, you wouldn't expect some holy grail life-changing miracles to happen. But I'd say you'd only really need to reapply this lipstick maybe once or twice during the day, so really it isn't bad at all. This particular shade 'Runway' only really suits me when I'm wearing false tan though, because the colour is quite dark. But, I'm definitely going to invest in a few lighter pink shades because these are a total steal, I love the look of the metallic range too.

This was the product that initially caught my eye. I've never tried a water based primer before so I was quite intrigued to see how I'd get on with it. It's a cooling based mist so it's very refreshing and gives you that instant hydration you want to start applying makeup. It dries pretty quickly and leaves your skin feeling smooth and ready for snatching. Overall, it's a pretty good primer. It doesn't do much for brightening your skin, but it does the job of smoothing out your pores and prepping your face just fine. Definitely worth giving a go and keeping for your simpler makeup days.
Barry M Strobe Cream in Galactic

I didn't really know what else to purchase on the three for two offer, so I decided to go with this product because of the cute little sparkles on the packaging and I'm a sucker for a pretty highlight. I'm easily pleased, I know. The highlighter stick has a small dome which makes this absolutely amazing for applying because its so easy to just pop directly onto your face wherever you please. It's a very creamy formula which makes the highlight effortless to blend too. This shade, Galactic, has a really icy holographic tone and is the perfect intensity for my fair skin. I'm so glad I decided to go for this product, I love it!

Do you have any Barry M favourites to recommend, I'd love to try more.

  1. I've only ever seen Barry M posts from back in 2009, when their polishes had all the hype, haha! That colour of the lip kit looks so pretty! I would genuinely consider buying it! I'm not the kind of girl to wear a lot (or anything!) on her lips, but I'm willing to wear lip liner alone as I won't have to touch it up, or if I am wearing a lippie I've got to do both liner and stick. Love the photos x
