The Best Affordable Beauty Buys

My hat is well and truly off to the bloggers who can successfully create a pretty flat lay because GOD these photographs took a lot of sweat, blood and tears I swear. Who knew something that looks so easy could be so bloody difficult?! Anyway, I thought I'd put together some of my favourite affordable beauty bits I've been loving lately. I don't know about you, but I love finding a good ol' beauty bargain from the comfort of my own home rather than swatching for hours on end in Boots. I have built up quite the obsession with a few of these products so excuse me if this post turns very rambly, don't tell me I didn't warn you!

The first thing I want to share with you is the Lee Stafford Coco Loco Hair Mist, because this stuff is amazing. For someone who hasn't got any jolly holidays planned yet, I can spray this stuff to my little hearts content and instantly feel like I've been zapped somewhere tropical, the coconut scent is insane. As well as smelling like the Bahamas, it does a pretty good job at protecting your hair. Post blow-dry, my hair feels super smooth and glossy. Go out and have a cheeky spray and sniff, I dare you.

Up next are a brand I'd never heard of until I finished my internship and this little Buxom gloss was in my goody bag. After loving this gloss so much, I did a little stalk and found that they're actually stocked in Debenhams and they're so affordable. The lip product in question is the Full On Lip Polish in Leslie.  It reminds me of my younger Avon makeup days because it has that familiar tingling sensation that makes your lips numb, which I love! That and this shade has a pretty sparkle to it, so it's perfect for minimal makeup days.

Next, two products that are a match made in heaven. If anyone knows me, I rarely EVER wear eyelashes. I don't think I have the best eye shape for them and honestly, I'm absolutely god awful at applying them no matter how hard I try. But Kiss Products have managed to create a lash that actually looks half decent on me, amen. These lashes in particular, the  Blooming Lash in Peony* are so natural and I love them enough to actually take my first ever selfie wearing false lashes, who'd've thought eh!

A lovely lash teamed with a pretty pink blush is my go-to look this summer. That's why I've been obsessed with the  L'Oreal Blush Paint in Pinkabilly. I've always been the type of gal to steer away from cream blushes for some reason, but after giving this a go I'm a bit of a convert. It's such a bright, summery shade of pink and blends so effortlessly.

Anatomicals Skincare

I've always been a huge fan of Maybelline's Lash Sensational, so I was quite sceptical when it came to trying out the new  Collosal Big Shot, but I'm so glad I gave it a go. Even though the brush is literally humongous, it creates really long lasting curls. I actually prefer this formula over Lash Sensational because I find that mascara sometimes leaves black marks under my eyes, whereas I've had no problems like that with this one!

Last but definitely not least, I was sent some products to try from Anatomicals a couple of months back. I've been testing them out since and found that these two are my favourites.  The Hawaii Five-Glow Scrub* has been a lifesaver in this heat. I just hate the feeling of suncream on my face in hot weather, so I've been looking forward to the evening when I can give my face a good hard scrub with this, smells divine too.

Another life saving product in this heat is the  Anatomical Never Lose Your Cherry Lip Balm*... can we just appreciate that title for a sec? Even if the Anatomicals products weren't amazing, I think their funny puns would still have me head over heels! This cherry balm smells so yummy and more importantly has SPF15, so you don't have to worry about your peckers getting burnt in this heat! Although, the taste isn't that great - for £2.50 I can suffice!

Have you got any affordable beauty reccomendations? I'd love to hear them! Thanks for reading x

Summer with Zara

I feel very conflicted about writing this post, so bare with me gals. On one hand I want to rave on about how spectacular the weather has been and how I'm loving this Zara dress, but in reality I'm not. I shared one of these photographs on Instagram a couple of days ago, then realised I was totally unhappy with the way I looked. Finding self confidence is bloody hard and something I rarely think about lately, but when summer comes around and you have to start getting bits out that you'd usually hide away - it's quite daunting.

This battle with confidence has left me feeling pretty pants and unmotivated in the blogging world. After finishing university I finally have some spare time to concentrate on the blog, but I just haven't been able to do so. I think, if I didn't mention how I'd been feeling lately in this post, I would definitely not be able to move on from this - I'd just sit here thinking about how much of a bloody fraud I am and be all sulky and probably keep thinking about posting.

The truth is, we're all guilty of a little self doubt from time to time. But I think it's what you do with that initial doubt that helps you get over it. Which is why I'm still posting these photos as a way of saying 'stop being so bloody stupid' to myself. That, and Nathan managed to actually take some half decent photographs of my outfit which is an accomplishment so I didn't want to see them go to waste. Can we also just talk about the dress for a moment? Zara always pull it out of the bag with cute affordable summer dresses.

On a lighter note, I'm yet to share my red hair with you all so here it is, ta-da! Although it's fading really quickly (It's semi-permanent dye), I'm going to re-do it in a couple of weeks and show you all how I managed to get that colour. Though, I hold no promises because at the moment it's fading into a rose-gold colour and I bloody love it! So we'll see - bare with!

Thanks for listening to me rant! J X

Flawless base with Estee Lauder

Estee Lauder Beauty Review

I bet if some of you read my posts, you'll think 'bloody hell - Jen is finally trying Double Wear!'  Believe me, it's been a long time coming. I think Estee Lauder is just a brand I underestimated and wasn't really bothered by until I finally took the plunge. Like, is it just me who associates Estee Lauder with posh older women?! (probably just me). Anyway, moving swiftly on - I can 100% confirm that this magnificent combination of products has left my skin GLOWED UP.

Who knew that the Illuminating primer underneath Double Wear foundation would be such a match made in heaven? I've tried so many brightening primers over the years from all different ends of the price spectrum but this has blown me away. You know when you find a product and instantly you're like 'yep, this is the one'... well that's what this primer is for me. Even better than my beloved Laura Mercier. If any of my readers suffer from oily skin but still want a dewy look thats going to last, try this - it's an absolute dreamboat. I'm 100% going to buy it at full size once I run out (which will be sooner rather than later because I'm slapping it on like there's no tomorrow.)

Which brings me onto my next point, Double Wear is exactly what it says on the bottle. It's not particularly my ultimate fave, coming from wearing Nars Sheer Glow for the past year, I find that it's a little too matte for me to work with. However, the lasting power is insane. Take it from my interning experience. Bustling around horrendously humid London, sitting in a sticky fashion cupboard didn't even phase Double Wear, it still looked perfectly intact on the sweaty tube ride home 9 hours later.  So it's not all doom and gloom, I can see it's going to be a staple come winter, but in summer I tend to wear lighter foundations - so I've not been wearing this most days but from when I have - it's a great little formula.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair
Estee Lauder Double Wear

Believe it or not the skincare is just as marvellous, possibly even better. I've been splurging on skincare so much lately that I've got so many different things queueing up to be tested. But, I just can't stop using these badboys. The DayWear moisturiser is a really soft and light day cream which sinks into your skin pretty quickly. The thing I love most about it is that it has such a nice smell, I I hate when SPF moisturisers smell artificial and awful? totally puts me off!

The cult favourite Advanced Night Repair has also worked wonders. Though, given that it's quite expensive, I'm using the teeniest amount so I can treasure it for as long as possible. Applying this on a night is so soothing, it has hyaluronic acid in the formula too, so my skin is really clear and hydrated at the moment. I don't think I'll repurchase it though, purely because of the price and the size of the bottles, but for now I'm just letting it go and loving my fresh af skin.

Skincare with Kiehls

Hey hey, guess who's back back back - I am university and intern free! I'm planning a few lil' posts about how I got on interning in London, but for now, enjoy this! A few days ago I had the pleasure of attending an evening event with Kiehls. I've always been so intrigued by Kiehls, I admit I've stopped and peeped in before but never actually stepped foot in store, because I just don't where to begin when it comes to my skincare. There's a few cult products that I see almost everywhere on Instagram and I know from relentlessly watching Kylie Jenner's snap stories that she's a huge fan, so you can imagine how happy I was to finally dive in and learn a little about the products.

Initially we were greeted with a cheeky cocktail in association with the new cocktail bar around the corner, The Alchemist. I would 100% recommend you try out the 'Bubble Bath' cocktail, a pretty pink frothy cocktail that tasted sooooo good. Once we got settled and had a little chin wag and a piece of cake with all the other bloggers, we were introduced to some of the top products and received a complimentary personal skin consultation. The store is cleverly split into sections, so once you've discovered your skin recommendations, there's a whole section devoted to you. Don't worry if you're in a rush and you don't want to spoil your makeup either - the little patches can detect your skin type over the top!

My results showed that my skin type is oily to normal, so I was shown the range of products that were suitable for my skin. The skin consultant Diane was super lovely, she even recommended a few products for my annoying puffy morning eyes too. I genuinely could've spent hours in there!

(The lovely Shannon papped getting her skin consultation)

Can we also talk about how cool that dry ice table set up is by the way?! Even though I had my eyes on buying almost everything, I settled with the bestselling moisturiser, Creme De Corps. I've had a few samples of this in the past and loved the rich texture and the gorgeous smell, so I thought I'd stock up and buy a bigger size. I learnt that the Victoria's Secret models use this moisturiser before they walk the runway, so they're all glossy and smooth for the cameras. Just praying it somehow turns me into a Kendall Jenner. I left arm in arm with a whole bunch of skincare samples and goodies which was so generous of the lovely staff at Kiehls. I'm going to test these products out for a few weeks so I can do a proper review and give my full opinion on them, so if you love Kiehls - keep your eyes peeled!
