Levoi Nails Blogging Event.

Is there anything better than a complimentary glass of champagne and fresh pair of beautiful nails?! I had the pleasure of attending Levoi nails blogging event last Friday thanks to the lovely Laura, who runs the blogging platform Ellefluence.

Being a student in Newcastle, I'm surrounded by lots of different places to go pamper my nails and admittedly I'd never heard of Levoi, but I'm so glad I got the opportunity to visit! Situated on St Mary's place, it's pretty much right next to Northumbria University library and they offer student discount on Mondays... so you can imagine where I'm going to be spending my free time now!

Levoi is hidden away down a couple of steps below street level, which is probably why oblivious me hadn't noticed it before, but it's definitely a place I won't forget. The whole salon is decorated beautifully and I knew from the minute I was handed a free glass of champagne that I'd love it here.

What I found most interesting about the salon is that Levoi mix their own colours to suit the customer. I said I love dark green shades and within minutes the lovely owner, Anne, was able to mix me up the perfect colour exclusively for me. Though, I was so amazed by the variety of techniques they offer, I ended up covering the colour with a mix of glitters and chromes too! If you fall in love with one of Levoi's colours (which I'm sure you will), they're also  available to buy online, which I think is a perfect gifting opportunity.

As you all know, I suffer from anxiety so initially I was sceptical about attending my first ever blogging event by myself. But the girls we're so friendly I was immediately put to ease and really enjoyed my time chatting away, I didn't want to leave!

Anne, spent so much time with me - trust me to be the nightmare of the event! For some unbeknown reason my right hand wasn't curing well, but Anne persisted and wouldn't let me leave until my nails we're finished beautifully and I couldn't thank her enough. All of the team at Levoi paid great attention to detail and made sure every single nail was left looking fabulous, the level of professionalism was outstanding.

Excuse the podgy fingers, but how gorgeous are those? they glitter so much in the sunlight, I keep catching myself checking them out! I was in the salon for around two hours until my nails finally started to play nice, I don't know about you but I don't know many nail technicians who would be willing to spend two hours making sure a single clients nails were that perfect!

With prices starting at just £16, Levoi is such great value for such an amazing service the girls provided. As if that and the free champagne wasn't enough, I was treated to a hand massage at the end of my experience too which was a perfect way to end the day. If you're around the Newcastle area I would 100% recommend visiting Levoi, especially if you're on a student budget like me. Though I only experienced the nail treatment, I'm keen to try out Levoi's other services, as they're also experts in waxing, Hd brows and LVL lashes.

You can book online at or call the salon on 0191 230 5859. Thank you so much to Ellefluence for organising the event and the lovely girls who worked wonders with my nails, I'll be back soon, I've already eyed up my next colour online.

I bet you thought you wouldn't see this bloody marvellous graffiti wall again haha. Happy Saturday little loves! I hope it's a lush one. I'm so happy with how the weather is shaping out in England lately, I feel like I can finally start to come out of hibernation and wear nicer clothes (though still playing it safe with tights because cold legs are a no-go). I totally forgot about this little gem hidden away in the back of my wardrobe, I bought it in the Urban Outfitters sale about a year ago and I've fallen back in love with it, the colour is so pretty. Teamed with my good old faithful buckle boots and my city bag and I'm ready to bask in the sunshine.

On another note, I attended my first ever blogging event alone yesterday and I didn't make a complete tit of myself so I'm pretty proud of that one. I'm genuinely the worst person for making situations ten times worse than they will be and I was stood outside for a good ten minutes trying to psyche myself up. I think it's SO important to push yourself out of your comfort zone at times, especially if you have anxiety like me. It was a great event and I also got some pretty gel nails in the process, win win!

Hows your weekend going? Thanks for reading! X

A Beauty Edit: Clinique Chubby Sticks.

Clinique Chubby Sticks
Clinique Chubby Sticks

Hi guys n gals, happy Wednesday! A few weeks back I was lucky enough to win a competition Clinique was running for Valentines day. I never everrrrr win anything so I was over the moon when I found out, but then I realised they'd picked a whole bunch of winners so I was not so special haha, but nonetheless! I am so pleased with my little winning - A Clinique lipstick in shade 07 Super Strawberry

Now as you probably know I collect lipsticks like there's no tomorrow. I feel like I can't leave the house without putting something on my lips, no matter how bold or subtle it is, I feel naked going without. So you can imagine my excitement winning a new lip product to try out and a bloody good one at that.

I've never ventured into Clinique's beauty range, I always have this predetermined idea that skincare should stick to being skincare and makeup brands should stick with selling makeup, so if i'm being brutally honest it's never really appealed to me all that much. Yet this lipstick has totally swerved my opinions and I'm left with an itch to try some more of Clinique's beauty range.

On first impressions the Chubby Sticks are super moisturising, I've been suffering with pretty dry lips lately and this has been my go-to lip balm. They have a gorgeous subtle colour, this one in particular, Super Strawberry - is very sheer but leaves my lips a natural red 'just bitten' colour which I feel really emphasises my lips natural shade.

I also find the actual pencil shape applicator to be such a godsend. I can't be the only one who hates tin lip balms?! the thought of the germs from my fingers touching the product makes me feel queasy. So having a pencil-style applicator which I can just glide on my lips whenever they're feeling a little quenched is perfect. This shade itself is one i'd typically go for but now I've done my research I've got so many different shades I want to pick up too. So, suffering from dry lips and want a product that'll not only look pretty but help moisturise them? Chubby sticks are the ones for you.

Have any of you tried the Chubby sticks or is there any Clinique products you would recommend?

I'm a real laidback gal. I used to obsess so much over my appearance to a ridiculous level but growing older you seem to realise there's a lot more things to life than your perfectly curled hair or your perfectly primed outfits. (That's not to say Nathan didn't have to take hundreds of photos because I felt like I looked awful haha). Don't get me wrong, there's days where I really want to feel good about myself, but more than usual I'm bare effort, natural untameable hair well underway and I make a dash for soft, comfy clothing.

This outfit screams ultimate comfort for me, my trusty old school vans that are so worn in they feel like slippers, my beloved joni jeans and my new favourite jumper from Bershka. How pretty are those arms! I love the frill detail, it's the perfect balance of boy-ish and adding a little femininity to a casual lazy day outfit.

I was also kindly gifted this clutch bag which is a complete life saver because it's so roomy. I always struggle to find fashionable bags that hold all my necessities (like five different lipsticks, a hairbrush and a shit load of sharpies) but this is perfect, it's also got an attachable strap too for whenever a clutch is inconvenient - I love it. Thanks Koko Couture, you da best.

How's your Sunday, I hope it's a lovely one! Thanks for reading x

sleek solstice highlighting palette

Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette -  Link Here

Happy Wednesday my little lovely ones! I hope it's a good one. Today I wanted to share my favourite highlighting palette because in all honesty, I think it deserves as many reviews as it can possibly get. The Sleek Solstice palette is currently only £10 to buy, meaning that each shade is only £2.50 (wow look at me doing math) and on the price alone it's a real winner. I think i've mentioned previously how I have a bit of a highlight addiction, I genuinely hoard and collect like there's no tomorrow and I've got a lot on complete different price scales, this palette beats them all.

I thought I'd give a mini breakdown on each shade because I think they all serve a different purpose but they're equally as gorgeous. The shade in the left corner of the palette, Ecliptic, is my favourite. It's the only cream based highlight in the palette and it's amazingly pigmented as you can tell from my swatches. It catches and reflects the light so well, I apply this on my brow bone and a tiny bit on the tip of my nose for an everyday look because it's very full on.

On the right of Equinox, there's Hemisphere, which is a gorgeous pink pearly highlight which is effortlessly blended. It's super easy to use and the right colour for a subtle everyday look. I've also tried applying this wet for a stronger look and it works just as well.

The bottom left shade is Subsolar, which is a banana / light yellow shade. This is the highlight I tend to wear on my cheeks for an everyday look if I'm having a simple makeup look. It's stunning! It's not too in your face, it blends seamlessly and it has gorgeous lasting power. I feel like with most of my highlighting palette's the pay off is good but the durability just doesn't seem to be there. But with this palette, I never have that problem.

Lastly, Equinox, which is a gorgeous shade for someone who has darker skin than me. I wear this if I'm wearing a full makeup look as I tend to wear darker foundation or some false tan underneath and it has a beautiful metallic sheen to compliment my tone. Plus it's very blendable, you can't go wrong.

If you haven't already gave this a go I recommend you do, one of the main things I love in general about this palette is that the highlight doesn't emphasise your pores which I find a lot of highlighters tend to do. This sits on your skin perfectly and lasts all day long. Even from the swatches you can see flash or no flash the highlight is super pigmented, for the asking price of just £10 I really don't think you can fault this one - plus the packaging is very blog-worthy. Win win!

Have you tried anything from Sleek, or did you love this palette too? let me know!

And Other Stories Spring Lookbook

Today is a little bit of a different post for Velvet Spring - but a pretty good one none the less! & Other Stories is a brand that I always see on the Blogosphere - special shoutout to Liv Purvis (What Olivia Did) who I see rocking & Other Stories all the time. But really I've never actually been too bothered by them, I don't feel like there's a fair amount of advertising for the brand and really I only ever give the website a quick ponder if I see Liv or someone wearing something pretty.

I've been studying the brand (for what feels like years now...) as part of my recent university project - I'm literally becoming obsessed. I thought I would share with you a few lot of my favourite things. Since we're in the midst of planning our spring wardrobes, & Other Stories have the perfect balance of transitional items. From the pastel hues to the brighter floral patterns which make perfect wardrobe staples - and don't get me started on that daisy bag and that green gingham two piece, is it justifiable to buy everything?

Beauty Favourites

Hello March, jeez you crept up quickly! it felt like two minutes ago I was heading back for my second term at university and now I'm less than two months away from finishing.. what a terrifying but relieving thought that is haha. Anyway, I thought I'd share with you a few of my favourite beauty products I've been gravitating towards this February. It's a pretty good mix! usually, I'm a firm favourites kind of gal but I've tried and tested a few new things from high street brands such as Rimmel and Maybelline this month and I'm pretty impressed!

Before I get into it, 980 Bloglovin' followers - how mental is that?! I remember the days when I'd sit here and look at my thirty followers and think oh my god am I ever going to get anywhere? if you're reading this and feeling disheartened by that pesky old number - don't. I'm living proof that a bit of self-motivation and pixie dust will get you places. So thank you to all of you who have stuck by my bad lighting days and uncontrollable rants, you're the best.

Rimmel Magnif'Eyes PaletteRimmel Clear Brow gel

Brow This Way  Link Here / Magnif'eyes Palette  Link Here

Ok, so first things first I thought I'd talk about my beloved brow gel. This product has literally revolutionised my brow game and I don't think I could ever be without it again. As I usually just use my ABH dip brow, I've never really seen a use for setting my brows, so I just bought it on a whim thinking I might try it for no makeup/effort days. I'm so pleasantly surprised, I use the clear gel to set my brows into place and since it's a gel, this helps the pomade glide on effortlessly, it's like they were made for each other - and for around four pounds it's a great price to repurchase. The other Rimmel product I've been loving lately is my Magnif'eyes palette in the keep calm & wear gold shade. This palette is gorgeous since I've been getting into eyeshadow a lot more lately I've been leaning towards this for neutral everyday looks. It's a perfect balance of matte and shimmer shades and the shimmers are really pigmented - especially if you apply them wet!

Soap And Glory MotherPucker Lipstick

This is a lippy I've featured before in one of my monthly favourites but I feel it deserves another mention because I wear this pretty much non-stop. I'm such a huge fan of Soap & Glory's skincare and bath and body range so I wasn't really sure what to expect from their makeup range but I'm really impressed. I've repurchased this 'Perfect Day' shade three times now and really I don't think I can live without it. It's a perfect nude brown, velvet teddy-esque shade for an everyday wear, but without a Mac price tag. The lasting power is pretty good too, though if you are to top it up during the day it doesn't get that awful gritty feeling like most lipsticks do.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo Eyeshadow

The Falsies Push Up Lash  Link Here / Colour Tattoo Eyeshadow  Link Here

The next brand I want to talk about is another high street favourite, Maybelline. You know when a product is so good that you feel like you want to personally thank the person who created it for making your makeup so damn good? that's how I feel about the new Falsies Push Up Angel Lash (even though I forgot to get a close-up pic).  I won't go too much into it because I feel like pretty much every blogger on the planet owns this mascara, but I 100% recommend it. I was quite sceptical at first because the brush is.. 'odd looking?' but I think it's the way the brush has been designed that makes the mascara so good - if  you're a lover of the Falsies range, definitely try this new one! I also picked up another shade of the Colour Tattoo eyeshadow's to try - this being the Eternal Gold shade. It's super pigmented though, so when I wear it i tend to blend it with a few darker colours so it's not too in your face, but overall it's a gorgeous shimmery shade and the lasting power is amazing.

Last but not least, the honourable mentions. Thank you to Anastasia Beverly Hills for always allowing my contour to stay on-fleek with the  Cream Contour Kit in the shade Light . Even though I hate that you don't sell the cream refills yet and I have to fork out almost £40 everytime I need a new shade, you're worth it I guess. The  Sleek Solstice Highlighting palette that doesn't even need a write up because I'm sure everyone knows that this is the best highlighter you can get your hands on. And a huge thank you to Real Techniques for the  Deluxe Crease and Angled Shadow brushes, making my eyes always perfectly blended this February.

Have you discovered any beauty products this month that you love? let me know.
